Vauxhall All Keys Lost: Getting Back on the Road Without the Dealer

Losing every key to your Vauxhall feels like a crisis — but it is a routine job for a mobile auto locksmith. “All keys lost” simply means there is no working key left to copy or add from, so a new key has to be generated and the car’s immobiliser persuaded to accept it. It is more involved than cutting a spare, but it very rarely needs a trip to the dealer.
Here is what actually happens, why the year of your Vauxhall changes the job, and how we get you back on the road.
What “all keys lost” means for your Vauxhall
With a spare in hand, a locksmith can add a new key quickly because the car is already “awake”. With no working key at all, we have to cut a blade to the car’s own code (usually decoded from the lock or the VIN), then electronically generate and authorise a brand-new transponder against the immobiliser. That is the car key programming step that a plain key-cutter cannot do.
The dealer route versus a mobile locksmith
A main dealer will typically want the car recovered to the branch, an appointment that could be days away, and a bill that stacks the key, the coding and the transport. A mobile locksmith comes to wherever the car is sitting, does the whole job on-site and gets you driving the same visit — no towing, no wait.
All-keys-lost on a GM-era Vauxhall
This covers the Corsa D/E, Astra H/J/K, Insignia, Zafira and the original Mokka/Mokka X. These GM-platform cars use the HU100R blade and a Hitag2 immobiliser, and in most cases the security data can be read and the new key programmed through the OBD port at the roadside. It is one of the most common Vauxhall jobs we do.
All-keys-lost on a Stellantis-era Vauxhall
The Corsa F (2019 on), the new Mokka (2020 on), the Grandland and the Crossland sit on Stellantis/PSA platforms with a different immobiliser and different tooling. Many are still handled on-site, but keyless and the very newest cars can take longer, and the exact method varies by build date [verify against your VIN]. We will tell you honestly what your specific car needs when you give us the reg.
What we need from you
- Proof of ownership: the V5C logbook and photo ID — we will not generate keys to a car without it, which protects you as much as us.
- The registration or VIN: so we arrive with the correct blade, chip and software.
- The location: home, work or roadside — the car does not need to move.
Stop it happening twice — get a spare
The reason all-keys-lost costs more than a spare is precisely that there is no key to work from. Once you are moving again, a single programmed spare turns any future loss back into a quick, cheap job rather than another full recovery. See our honest Vauxhall key cost guide for how the tiers work.
