Who we are

Lock City is a mobile auto locksmith serving Bristol, Bath and the surrounding area. The business responsible for your personal data is Lock City Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales (company number 06912077), whose registered office is Station Road Workshops, Station Road, Kingswood, Bristol BS15 4PJ. ICO registration number: 00015279319.

What we collect

When you ask for a quote or a call-out, online or by phone, we collect:

• your name, email address and phone number;
• where the vehicle is: house name or number and postcode, or a location if you share it;
• your vehicle registration, and the make, model and year we look up from it;
• what you need, your answers about your keys, anything you type in the message box, and a photo of your key or dashboard if you choose to upload one.

Business enquiries also collect your company name, a purchase order number if you give one, and how you would like to pay.

The form saves your answers as you move between its steps, so that if you are cut off before you press send we can still call you back.

Why we use it

• To give you a quote, call you back and carry out the work you ask for.
• If you start a quote and do not finish it, our team may call you, and we may send you one email about it.
• After a completed job we may send you one message asking for a review. You can ignore it.
• To keep the site secure and stop spam.

We rely on taking steps at your request before a contract, and on our legitimate interest in responding to enquiries and running the business. We do not sell your data or use it for marketing lists.

Who we share it with

We use these services to run the site and handle enquiries. They process your data for us and only on our instructions:

• Sanity: stores enquiries.
• Cloudflare: hosts the website, stores uploaded photos and runs the security check on our forms.
• Resend: sends our emails to you and to our team.
• Anthropic: produces a short summary of your enquiry, and reads an uploaded key photo, to help our team prioritise. It is not used to make decisions about you.
• DVLA and DVSA: we send your registration to look up the make, model and year of your vehicle.
• Google (Analytics, Tag Manager, Ads): only if you accept analytics cookies.
• PostHog (EU): only if you accept analytics cookies. It shows us how the site is used, records visits so we can replay them (anything you type is hidden), and reports pages that break, so we can fix them.

Some of these providers process data outside the UK. Where they do, they use legal safeguards such as the UK International Data Transfer Agreement or adequacy regulations.

Cookies

We use the cookies the site needs to work and to protect our forms. Analytics and advertising cookies are only set if you accept them in the cookie banner, and you can change your choice at any time.

How long we keep it

Enquiries, including any uploaded photo, are deleted automatically 24 months after they are made, unless we need them for a job, an invoice or a legal claim. We keep them this long because customers often come back to us for spare keys or follow-up work, and so we can deal with any questions about a job we did.

Your rights

You can ask to see the personal data we hold about you, to correct it, to have it deleted, or to object to how we use it. Email info@lockcity.co.uk and we will reply within one month.

If you are unhappy with how we have handled your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.
