Lost, snapped or stolen your Nissan Note key? The Note is a practical little family car and a common choice for Bristol families and motability drivers — so an immobilised one you cannot start disrupts the school run, the shopping and the appointments you cannot miss.
A main dealer will want the Note recovered, an appointment days out, and a bill stacking the key, the coding and the transport. A general locksmith cannot programme it either: the Note runs Nissan’s NATS immobiliser, so an uncoded key opens the door but never starts the engine — you need the right chip and dealer-level software.
Lock City is a mobile auto locksmith carrying the correct Nissan blanks — bladed remote or Intelligent Key — and the software to code them. We come to you, cut the NSN14 blade and programme the key to your immobiliser on-site — no towing, no dealer delay. Every Note key replacement and key programming job is guaranteed. Call 07967 097 899, Mon–Fri 8am–5:30pm.
Nissan Note Keys: Types & What You Need
The Note ran through two generations in the UK, moving from a straightforward bladed key to the Intelligent Key on higher trims. The generation tells us the exact blank, chip and software:
Note E11 (2006–2013)
- Blade: NSN14 blade.
- Key: a bladed remote key with a transponder (Hitag2 / ID46, NATS) on most cars — a simpler, older system.
- All-keys-lost: programmed by OBD at the roadside with the BCM/PIN drawn from the vehicle.
Note E12 (2013–2017, UK)
- Key: bladed remote key on entry trims, with the Nissan Intelligent Key (proximity) — emergency blade hidden in the fob — on higher-spec cars.
- Electronics: Renault–Nissan alliance architecture; the Note was withdrawn from the UK around 2017.
The Note jobs we see most
- A “dead remote” that is really just a flat CR2032 battery or a worn micro-switch — a cheap fix, not a new key.
- All-keys-lost on an older E11, where we generate and code a fresh transponder key at the roadside.
Note: the exact bladed-vs-Intelligent-Key split on the E12 varies by trim and build date [verify against your VIN]. Tell us your reg and we will confirm the key type before we come out.

Nissan Note Key Replacement — Your Questions Answered
Can you replace a Nissan Note key without going to a dealer?
Yes. We cut and programme Note keys at the roadside for both the E11 and E12 using dealer-level Nissan software — bladed remotes and Intelligent Keys alike — including all-keys-lost, with no recovery to a dealer. See our Nissan key programming service.
My Note remote has stopped working — do I need a whole new key?
Usually not. On the Note a non-working remote is most often a flat CR2032 battery or a worn micro-switch, not a failed transponder — so the key still starts the car. We can replace the battery or repair the remote for a fraction of a new key.
I’ve lost all the keys to my Note — what happens now?
We treat it as an all-keys-lost job: we generate a fresh key, cut the NSN14 blade and code it to your NATS immobiliser at the roadside, drawing the security PIN from the vehicle where needed. More on our lost car keys page.
Does my Note have an Intelligent Key or a normal key?
It depends on the generation and trim. The E11 (2006–2013) is almost always a bladed remote key; the E12 (2013–2017) offered the Intelligent Key smart fob on higher trims. Tell us your reg and we will confirm before we travel. Our Nissan ignition case study shows the kind of Nissan work we do.
How much is a replacement Nissan Note key?
An older E11 bladed remote is the cheapest tier; an E12 Intelligent Key smart fob and any all-keys-lost job cost more because of the part and the programming. Send us your registration and we will confirm the exact price before we travel.
