Kona Mk1 (OS, 2017–2023)
- Blade: HY-series emergency blade hidden inside the fob (for the door if the battery dies).
- Key: flip remote on entry trims; keyless smart proximity (Smart Key) common and standard on higher trims, using a secure transponder.
- Kona Electric: the EV uses the same keyless smart-key system as the petrol and hybrid — there is no separate “EV key”.
- All-keys-lost: roadside-programmable with current software and the security code; keyless AKL takes longer than adding a spare.
Kona Mk2 (SX2, 2023–present)
- Key: keyless smart proximity standard on most trims, with a newer, more secure key architecture.
