Regain Entry Into Your Hyundai i10

Lost, snapped or stolen your Hyundai i10 key? As one of Britain’s most popular city cars, the i10 is the daily runabout for the commute, the school drop and the shopping — so a dead or missing key stops everything, and even a small car has an immobiliser that will not accept just any cut key.

A main dealer will usually want the i10 recovered, an appointment you may wait days for, and a bill that combines the key, the coding and the transport. A high-street key cutter cannot help either: the i10 runs the Hyundai immobiliser, so an uncoded key will open the door but never crank the engine, and all-keys-lost normally needs the vehicle’s security code first.

Lock City is a mobile auto locksmith that comes to you with the right HY-series blanks, transponders and dealer-level software for your exact i10. We cut the blade, retrieve the security code where needed and code the key to your immobiliser at the roadside — no towing, no dealer delay. Every i10 key replacement and programming job is guaranteed. Call 07967 097 899, Mon–Fri 8am–5:30pm.

Hyundai i10 Keys: Types & What You Need

The i10 keeps things simple — it is one of the more affordable Hyundais to re-key — but the generation still sets the exact blank, chip and remote. Hyundai shares this key system with Kia’s city cars (Picanto) across Hyundai Motor Group:

i10 Mk1 (2008–2013)

  • Blade: HY-series blade (external-cut on early cars).
  • Key: plain blade-and-transponder key on base trims, or a separate remote plus transponder key on higher trims.
  • Transponder: Texas 4D-type fixed transponder on the earliest cars, moving to Philips/NXP ID46 (Hitag2).

i10 Mk2 (2013–2019)

  • Key: HY-series folding (flip) remote as standard on most trims, with an ID46 transponder.
  • Common job: a worn folding hinge or micro-switch — we can re-shell the key and transfer your electronics rather than sell a whole new key.

i10 Mk3 (2019–present)

  • Key: folding flip remote with a secure transponder; keyless smart entry is rare on the i10 and limited to top trims.
  • All-keys-lost: roadside-programmable by OBD once the security code is retrieved.

Note: the earliest Mk1 transponder type and any Mk3 keyless option vary by build and trim [verify against your VIN]. Tell us your reg and we will confirm whether yours is a fixed transponder or a folding remote before we set off.

Which key does a Hyundai i10 use?

Depending on the generation and trim, the Hyundai i10 is fitted with the bladed transponder key, remote key with a separate blade and the flip (switchblade) remote key. Tell us your registration and we will confirm which one your vehicle carries before quoting.

  • Bladed transponder key
  • Remote key with a separate blade
  • Flip (switchblade) remote key
Hyundai i10 FAQs

Hyundai i10 Key Replacement — Your Questions Answered

How much is a replacement Hyundai i10 key in Bristol?

The i10 is one of the cheaper Hyundais to re-key, especially a spare folding remote or transponder key. An all-keys-lost job costs a little more because the security code has to be retrieved and a fresh key generated. Give us your registration and we will quote the exact figure before we travel.

My i10 folding key won’t spring out any more — do I need a new key?

Usually not. On the Mk2 i10 this is normally a worn hinge or micro-switch rather than a failed transponder. We can re-shell the key and transfer your existing electronics and blade for far less than a brand-new coded key.

Can you programme an i10 key without going to a Hyundai dealer?

Yes. We cut and programme i10 keys at the roadside by OBD using dealer-level software, so there is no need to recover the car or wait for a dealer appointment. See our key programming service.

I’ve lost every key to my i10 — can you still help?

Yes. All-keys-lost is a routine i10 job: we retrieve the immobiliser security code, generate and cut a fresh key and code it to the car at the roadside, so it starts before we leave. See our lost car keys service.

My i10 key buttons stopped working — is the fob dead?

Often it is just a flat coin-cell battery in the remote, not a failed key. We can replace the battery or repair the folding remote for a fraction of a new key. If the transponder itself has failed, we can code a replacement on-site.
