Regain Entry Into Your Toyota Corolla

A lost or dead Toyota Corolla key leaves you going nowhere. Whether an older Corolla key has finally worn out, a key has been lost, or the last one was stolen, an immobilised Corolla is a car you cannot start and cannot afford to be without.

The dealer route means recovering the Corolla, waiting for an appointment and paying for the key, the coding and the transport. A high-street key cutter cannot help either — every Corolla runs a Toyota immobiliser, so an uncoded key opens the door but never fires the engine. And the current hybrid Corolla uses a Smart Key System with an encrypted H-chip that needs proper dealer-level tooling.

That is where Lock City comes in. We are a mobile auto locksmith carrying the dealer-level software, the correct Toyota transponders and the right blanks your Corolla needs. We come to you, cut or supply the key and code it to your immobiliser on-site — no towing, no dealer delay, and every Corolla key replacement guaranteed. Phone 07967 097 899, Mon–Fri 8am–5:30pm.

Toyota Corolla Keys: Types & What You Need

The Corolla name has covered very different key systems — and in the UK the model even stepped aside for the Auris for several years before returning in 2019. Telling us the generation (or your reg) means we arrive with the right blank, chip and software:

Corolla E120 / E140 (2002–2009)

  • Blade: TOY43 blade.
  • Transponder: early Texas 4C / G-type chip in a bladed transponder key.
  • All-keys-lost: roadside-programmable with the right kit.

Auris era (2006–2018)

  • In the UK: the hatchback was sold as the Auris during these years — if that is your car, see our dedicated Toyota Auris key page.

Corolla E210 (2019–present)

  • Key: the Corolla name returned as a hybrid — keyless Smart Key System (proximity) is common across the range.
  • Transponder: H-chip (Texas DST-AES) secure smart key.
  • Why it matters: the H-chip needs dealer-level authentication, so all-keys-lost on a current Corolla is a specialist job — a strong reason to keep a coded spare.

Note: the exact chip and whether your Corolla is smart-key or bladed depends on year and trim [verify against your VIN]. Give us the reg and we will confirm the key system before we set off.

Toyota Corolla FAQs

Toyota Corolla Key Replacement — Your Questions Answered

Can you replace a Toyota Corolla key without going to a dealer?

Yes. We cut and programme Corolla keys at the roadside with dealer-level software, from older bladed G-chip cars to the current hybrid smart-key Corolla. There is no need to recover the car or book into a Toyota dealer. See our car key programming service.

My UK Corolla from around 2010 is actually badged Auris — can you still help?

Yes — in the UK the hatchback wore the Auris badge from 2006 to 2018, and we cover it fully. Take a look at our Toyota Auris key replacement page, or just give us the reg and we will identify the exact key your car needs.

Does the hybrid Corolla use a G-chip or an H-chip?

The current hybrid Corolla (2019-on) uses the Smart Key System with an H-chip (DST-AES), which needs dealer-level authentication. Older bladed Corollas used the earlier G-chip. Tell us your reg and we will confirm which your car carries and what the job involves.

I’ve lost all the keys to my Corolla — what happens now?

We treat it as an all-keys-lost job. On older G-chip cars we generate, cut and code a fresh key at the roadside; on the newer H-chip hybrid it is a specialist job but still one we handle on-site. More detail on our lost car keys page.

Is a keyless hybrid Corolla key more expensive to replace?

Generally yes. A keyless Smart Key System fob with an H-chip is a more expensive part than a bladed transponder key and takes longer to programme. We carry both types, so whichever Corolla you have we can sort it in one visit — send us your registration for an exact price.
