Regain Entry Into Your Renault Kadjar

Lost your Renault Kadjar keycard, or had one stolen? On a family SUV that does the school run, the dog walks and the weekend away, being locked out or immobilised grinds the whole household to a halt — and on a keyless car a missing card is a security problem too.

A main dealer will want the Kadjar recovered, an appointment you may wait days for, and a bill that stacks the keycard, the coding and the transport together. A generic locksmith cannot programme it — the Kadjar (built on the Nissan Qashqai platform, with Renault’s UCH immobiliser and security PIN) needs current software and the correct card blanks, and being keyless it is a known relay-theft target.

Lock City handles both the access and the security. As a mobile Renault specialist we carry the dealer-level software and correct keycard blanks to code a new Kadjar key at the roadside. Lost a keycard to theft? We can programme a fresh one and disable the missing card so it can no longer start the car. See our lost key and stolen key services, or call 07967 097 899, Mon–Fri 8am–5:30pm.

Renault Kadjar Keys: Types & What You Need

The Kadjar (2015–2022) was keyless-heavy from launch, so nearly every job here involves a hands-free card and the security PIN:

Kadjar (2015–2022)

  • Key: hands-free keycard / keyless smart entry on most trims; a bladed flip remote on entry Expression cars.
  • Blade: VAC102 profile, or the emergency blade hidden inside the keycard.
  • Transponder: Hitag AES (secure) on keyless cards, Hitag2 on some earlier bladed keys.
  • Platform: shares the Nissan Qashqai/CMF-C platform, but keeps Renault’s UCH immobiliser and keycard system.
  • All-keys-lost: we calculate the security PIN and code a fresh card at the roadside.
  • Security: as a keyless SUV, the Kadjar is a relay-theft target — a Faraday pouch, disciplined spare storage and re-coding after any theft all matter.

The Kadjar keycard jobs we see most

  • “Keycard not recognised”: usually a flat card battery, a worn card, or a card that has lost sync and needs re-pairing.
  • One-card households, where a lost card is instantly an all-keys-lost job.

Note: keycard-vs-bladed availability by trim varies [verify against your VIN]. Our Renault keycard not recognised case study shows how we diagnose a card fault — or send us your reg and we will confirm the key type first.

Renault Kadjar FAQs

Renault Kadjar Key Replacement — Your Questions Answered

My Renault Kadjar is keyless — can you make a new keycard?

Yes. The Kadjar uses a hands-free keycard with a secure Hitag AES chip, and we carry both the card blanks and the current software to programme one to your car at the roadside — including keyless all-keys-lost, where we calculate the security PIN.

My keyless Kadjar card was stolen — is the car at risk?

Potentially, yes — a stolen keycard can start the car, and keyless SUVs are targeted by relay theft. We can programme a new card and de-register the stolen one so it no longer unlocks or starts the Kadjar. See our stolen car keys service.

My Kadjar keycard is not being recognised — do I need a new one?

Often not. It is usually a flat card battery, a worn card, or a card that has lost sync with the car and needs re-pairing. We can test and, where needed, replace the battery or re-sync the card. See our Renault keycard case study.

Is the Kadjar the same as a Nissan Qashqai for keys?

It shares the Qashqai’s platform, but the Kadjar keeps Renault’s UCH immobiliser and hands-free keycard system — so it is programmed as a Renault, not a Nissan. Tell us the reg and we will bring the right Renault software and card blank.

How do I stop my keyless Kadjar being stolen?

Keep the keycard in a Faraday (signal-blocking) pouch, store the spare away from doors and windows, and consider an aftermarket immobiliser or tracker. After any theft or lost card, have the key re-coded so the missing one is disabled.
