Regain Entry Into Your Mitsubishi Shogun

Lost, snapped or worn out your Mitsubishi Shogun key? The Shogun (Pajero) is a hard-working 4x4 — a tow car, a farm and trade workhorse, an off-roader — and many are older vehicles down to a single tired key. When it fails, an immobilised Shogun is going nowhere.

The dealer route is awkward for an older 4x4: recovery to the branch, an appointment days away, and a bill covering the key, the coding and the transport — assuming the dealer still stocks parts for the age of vehicle at all. A high-street key cutter cannot help either, because the Shogun runs a Mitsubishi immobiliser, so an uncoded key turns but never starts the engine.

Lock City is a mobile auto locksmith that knows older Mitsubishi 4x4s. We come to your home, yard or the roadside, cut the MIT8/MIT11 blade and code the key to your immobiliser on-site — no towing, no dealer wait, fully guaranteed. Book a replacement key or key programming on 07967 097 899, Mon–Fri 8am–5:30pm.

Mitsubishi Shogun Keys: Types & What You Need

The Shogun is an older, bladed-key 4x4 for most of its life, which usually makes it a more straightforward job than a modern keyless car. The generation tells us the exact blank and chip:

Shogun Gen 3 (2000–2006)

  • Blade: MIT8 / MIT11 blade.
  • Key: bladed transponder key with an early Texas 4D-family chip; separate or integrated remote on higher trims.
  • Common jobs: worn keys that no longer turn cleanly, and immobiliser faults where the engine cranks but will not fire.

Shogun Gen 4 (2006–2019)

  • Key: bladed transponder / flip remote with a Texas 4D-family / ID46-class chip; FAST-Key keyless entry & start on later high-spec (SG-series) trims.
  • All-keys-lost: bladed cars are roadside-programmable; the later keyless trims take longer.
  • Spare-key case: many working Shoguns are down to one key — a coded spare is cheap insurance against a single failure stranding an expensive-to-recover 4x4.

Note: whether a late Gen 4 Shogun is bladed or FAST-Key keyless depends on trim and build date [verify against your VIN]. Tell us your reg and we will confirm the key type before we come out.

Mitsubishi Shogun FAQs

Mitsubishi Shogun Key Replacement — Your Questions Answered

Can you cut a key for an older Mitsubishi Shogun?

Yes — older 4x4s are our bread and butter. The Shogun uses a MIT8/MIT11 bladed transponder key, which we cut and code to your immobiliser on-site. Being an older bladed vehicle usually makes it a more straightforward job than a modern keyless car.

My Shogun cranks but won’t start — is it the key?

It can be. A de-synced transponder or an immobiliser fault will let the engine crank but not fire, which people often mistake for a fuel or engine problem. We diagnose the immobiliser and re-code the key on-site so the Shogun starts again.

How much is a replacement Mitsubishi Shogun key in Bristol?

An older bladed Shogun transponder key is one of the cheaper jobs; a later FAST-Key keyless fob or an all-keys-lost costs more. Give us your registration and the year and we will confirm the exact figure before we travel.

My Shogun only has one key — should I get a spare?

Strongly recommended, especially on a working 4x4. Many Shoguns are down to a single worn key, so losing it turns a cheap spare-cut into a costlier all-keys-lost on a vehicle that is expensive to recover. See our spare key service.

I’ve lost all the keys to my Shogun — can you still help?

Yes. All-keys-lost is a job we handle on the Shogun: we generate a fresh key, cut the blade and code it to your immobiliser at the roadside so the 4x4 starts before we leave. More on our lost car keys page.
