CX-5 KE (2012–2017)
- Key: Advanced Keyless Entry & Start smart proximity fob standard on higher trims (Sport, and much of the range); a flip / bladed transponder key on base cars.
- Transponder: DST80-class secure Mazda chip; a hidden MAZ24-family emergency blade for the door if the fob battery dies.
- All-keys-lost: roadside-programmable with the right kit; keyless AKL takes longer than a spare.
CX-5 KF (2017–present)
- Key: Advanced Keyless smart proximity standard across most of the range, with an updated secure smart chip.
- Security: the keyless system is a relay-theft target. We recommend a Faraday pouch, keeping the spare well away from the front door, and re-coding after any theft so the old fob is dead.
