Spare & fleet keysRegain Entry Into Your Citroën Relay
A Citroën Relay off the road is money walking out the door. Whether it is a courier’s panel van, a builder’s Luton or the base of your motorhome, a lost, stolen or snapped key does not just cost a key — it costs the delivery, the job, or the holiday you booked months ago.
The dealer route is the worst of all worlds for a working van: recovery to the branch, an appointment days away, and a bill stacking the key, the coding and the transport while the Relay sits idle. A general locksmith cannot programme it either — the Relay runs a Stellantis (PSA) immobiliser, so an uncoded key will open the door but never crank the engine.
Lock City is a mobile van locksmith that comes to your yard, depot, campsite or the roadside. We cut the HU83 blade, code the key to your immobiliser on-site and get you moving — no towing, no dealer wait. We also handle deadlocks and fleet and motorhome spare keys, so a single failure never strands you. Call 07967 097 899, Mon–Fri 8am–5:30pm.
Citroën Relay Keys: Types & What You Need
Knowing which Relay you run tells us the blade, chip and software to bring — and whether it is a quick spare or a full all-keys-lost:
Citroën Relay (Sevel Large, 1994–present)
- Blade: PSA VA2 / HU83 profile on the Citroën-badged van [verify against your VIN].
- Transponder: Philips/NXP Hitag2 (ID46) immobiliser chip — OBD-programmable with dealer-level Stellantis software.
- Remote: plain transponder key on early/base vans; flip (switchblade) remote on later X250 / X290 vans.
- All-keys-lost: programmed by OBD at the roadside; the BSI PIN is usually readable by OBD, so no need to recover the van.
The sibling truth (genuine information gain)
The Relay is the Sevel Large van — mechanically identical to the Fiat Ducato and Peugeot Boxer, so it shares their blade-and-Hitag2 key system. One key-system, three badges. It is also the UK’s most common motorhome base, so many “Relay” keys we cut are actually on Auto-Trail, Swift or Bailey campers built on the Relay chassis-cab.
Note: the Fiat-badged Ducato uses the SIP22 blade while the Citroën/Peugeot side uses VA2/HU83 — tell us your reg (or VIN) and we will confirm the exact blank and chip before we travel.

Citroën Relay Van Key Replacement — Your Questions Answered
How fast can you get my Citroën Relay back on the road?
We prioritise vans because an off-road Relay is lost income. In most cases we cut and programme a key at your location in a single visit, with no recovery to a dealer. See our van locksmith solutions.
Can you cut a key for a motorhome built on a Citroën Relay?
Yes — this is one of our most common jobs. The Relay is the UK’s most popular motorhome base, and the coachbuilder does not change the cab key system. If your Auto-Trail, Swift, Bailey or Elddis sits on a Relay chassis-cab, we cut and code the cab key exactly as we would for a panel van.
Is the Citroën Relay really the same as a Ducato or Boxer?
Under the badge, yes — all three are the Sevel Large van and share the same key architecture. The Fiat Ducato differs slightly (SIP22 blade), while the Relay and Peugeot Boxer use the PSA VA2/HU83 blade. Whichever you have, we carry the right blanks.
Can you come to my yard or depot to key several Relays at once?
Yes. We regularly attend yards, depots and sites to cut and programme spare or replacement keys across a fleet in one visit — the cheapest way to make sure no single lost key strands a van. See our replacement van keys service.
My Relay was broken into and has a deadlock — can you still help?
Yes. Deadlocks make forced entry harder, which is the point — but we use non-destructive methods to gain entry, then cut and code a new key. If it was a break-in, see our stolen keys and broken key services too.
