Regain Entry Into Your Vauxhall Adam
Lost, snapped or stolen your Vauxhall Adam key? The Adam is a small, characterful city car that people rely on for the commute and the shops — so an immobilised or locked-out Adam brings your day to a halt fast.
Take the Adam to a main dealer and you are usually looking at recovering the car, a booking days away, and a bill that stacks the key, the programming and the recovery together. A high-street key cutter cannot help either — the Adam runs an encrypted GM immobiliser, so a key that has not been electronically married to the car will open the door but never crank the engine.
Lock City is a mobile auto locksmith that carries the dealer-level GM software, the Hitag2 transponders and the HU100R blanks the Adam needs. We come to you, cut the blade on-site and code the key to your immobiliser at the roadside — no towing, no dealer wait. Every Adam key replacement and key programming job is guaranteed. Call 07967 097 899, Monday to Friday, 8am–5:30pm.
Vauxhall Adam Keys: Types & What You Need
The Vauxhall Adam is firmly a General Motors car — and that is the key fact. Built from 2013 to 2019, the Adam shares its underpinnings with the Corsa D / E, so it uses the old GM key system throughout. It was discontinued in 2019, before Vauxhall’s move to the Stellantis platform, so — unlike the Corsa or Mokka — there is no “second era” of Adam key to worry about.
Vauxhall Adam (2013–2019) — GM architecture
- Blade: HU100R internal-cut laser blade, the same GM profile used on the Corsa D/E of the same period.
- Transponder: Philips/NXP Hitag2 (ID46) chip on the GMLAN immobiliser.
- Remote: fixed-head or flip (switchblade) remote depending on trim — the flip-blade spring is a known wear point we can re-shell rather than replace outright.
- Keyless: the Adam was generally sold with a conventional turn-to-start key rather than proximity keyless entry [verify against your VIN].
- All-keys-lost: programmed by OBD at the roadside with dealer-level GM software — no recovery to a dealer required.
Bottom line: because the Adam never crossed into the Stellantis era, it is a single, well-understood GM key system. Give us the reg or the year and we will confirm the exact key, chip and price before we set off.

Spare keyVauxhall Adam Key Replacement — Your Questions Answered
Is the Vauxhall Adam a GM or a Stellantis car for key purposes?
General Motors, throughout. The Adam was built from 2013 to 2019 on the same GM platform as the Corsa D/E, and it was discontinued before Vauxhall’s switch to the Stellantis platform — so every Adam uses the GM HU100R key with a Hitag2 chip. That makes it a well-understood, roadside-programmable job. See our car key replacement service.
Can you programme an Adam key at the roadside, or does it have to go to Vauxhall?
At the roadside. The Adam is cut and coded on-site by OBD with our dealer-level GM software, including all-keys-lost, so there is no recovery to a dealer and no waiting for a slot. See our car key programming service.
My Adam key still turns but the buttons do nothing — do I need a new key?
Usually not. On the Adam this is almost always a flat CR2032 fob battery or a worn micro-switch, not a failed transponder. We can replace the battery or repair the remote for a fraction of a new key, and re-shell a worn flip key rather than sell you a whole new one.
I’ve lost every key to my Adam — can you still help?
Yes. All-keys-lost is a routine Adam job: we generate and code a brand-new key to your immobiliser at the roadside, so you are not paying for recovery. See our lost car keys service.
Is an Adam key the same as a Vauxhall Corsa key?
For the same-era Corsa, effectively yes — the Adam shares the Corsa D/E’s GM key system (HU100R blade, Hitag2 chip), so it is the same style of job. A newer, 2019-on Stellantis Corsa F is different. See our Vauxhall Corsa page.
