The XF is the Jaguar that straddles the shift from a bladed transponder key to full keyless, so the generation decides both the job and the security advice:

Jaguar XF X250 (2008–2015)

• Blade: HU101-family blade on the bladed-key cars.
• Key: a bladed remote with a Ford-era transponder (Texas 4D-family) on earlier / base cars, with JLR keyless smart entry offered and increasingly common on higher trims [verify against your VIN].
• All-keys-lost: programmed with dealer-level software; the bladed transponder cars are a more straightforward job than the modern keyless fobs.
• Common jobs: worn or snapped blades, dead remote batteries mistaken for a failed key, and immobiliser faults where the car cranks but will not start.

Jaguar XF X260 (2015–2024)

• Key: JLR keyless smart proximity fob as standard, tied to the KVM, with an HU101-family emergency blade hidden inside.
• Transponder: encrypted JLR proximity system (AES-class) — which is why it needs current dealer-level tooling, not an older cloning machine.
• Security: as a keyless JLR the X260 is a relay-theft target — Faraday pouch, disciplined spare storage, and re-coding after any theft all matter.
• All-keys-lost: high-value dealer-level programming; a genuine specialist job.
