Spare & Theft-Safe Keys
The current Jimny is a sought-after, in-demand model. We supply and code spare keys and, after a theft, re-code the car to disable the missing fob.
Regain Entry Into Your Suzuki Jimny
Lost, damaged or had a Suzuki Jimny key stolen? The Jimny is a compact, characterful off-roader that owners rely on for work and play — and because the current car is so sought-after, a missing keyless fob is a security concern as much as a lockout.
A main dealer will want the Jimny recovered, an appointment days away, and a bill stacking the key, the coding and the transport. A general locksmith usually cannot programme it — the Jimny runs a Suzuki immobiliser, and all-keys-lost needs the immobiliser and PIN read. Meanwhile a stolen keyless Smart Key can still start the car unless it is disabled.
Lock City comes to you with the dealer-level software and correct blanks to cut and code a Jimny key — fixed-blade, flip or keyless Smart Key — on the spot. Lost a keyless fob to theft? We can code a new key and disable the old one so it can no longer start the Jimny. See our lost and stolen key services, or call 07967 097 899, Mon–Fri 8am–5:30pm.
Suzuki Jimny Keys: Types & What You Need
The Jimny name covers two very different generations, so the generation drives both cost and security advice:
Jimny (SN413, 1998–2018)
- Blade: older Suzuki-specific / TOY-style profile [verify against your VIN].
- Key type: fixed-blade transponder key or flip remote, ID46 (PCF7936) chip.
- All-keys-lost: immobiliser and PIN read — roadside on most cars.
Jimny (JB74, 2018–present)
- Blade: HU133R [verify against your VIN].
- Key type: flip remote key; keyless Smart Key on higher trims; ID47 (Hitag3) chip.
- Security: a sought-after, in-demand model — a Faraday pouch, disciplined spare storage and re-coding after any theft all matter.
Note: the SN413-to-JB74 change and whether yours is keyless vary by trim and build [verify against your VIN]. Our Suzuki Smart Key troubleshooting guide covers why a keyless Jimny sometimes fails to detect its key.
Suzuki Jimny Key Replacement — Your Questions Answered
My Suzuki Jimny is keyless — can you still make a new key?
Yes. The current JB74 Jimny uses a keyless Smart Key on higher trims, and we carry both the blanks and current software to code one to your car at the roadside — including all-keys-lost.
My keyless Jimny fob was stolen — is the car at risk?
Potentially, yes — a stolen proximity Smart Key can start the car, and sought-after models are targeted. We can code a new fob and de-register the stolen one so it no longer unlocks or starts the Jimny. See our stolen car keys service.
I’ve lost every key to my Jimny — can you help?
Yes. All-keys-lost on the Jimny means reading the immobiliser and PIN to authorise a new key, which we do at the roadside on most cars — no dealer recovery. See our lost car keys service.
How do I stop my Jimny being stolen via the keyless system?
Keep the Smart Key in a Faraday pouch, store the spare away from doors, and consider an aftermarket immobiliser or tracker. After any lost or stolen fob, have the car re-coded so the missing one is disabled. Our Suzuki Smart Key guide has more.
How much does a Jimny key cost to replace?
It depends on the generation and key type — an older flip key is the cheaper tier, a keyless Smart Key and any all-keys-lost cost more. Send us your reg for an exact quote before we travel.

Which key does a Suzuki Jimny use?
Depending on the generation and trim, the Suzuki Jimny is fitted with the bladed transponder key and the flip (switchblade) remote key. Tell us your registration and we will confirm which one your vehicle carries before quoting.
- Bladed transponder key
- Flip (switchblade) remote key
