The Jeep Key Services We Offer
Jeep Vehicle Entry
Keys locked inside your Jeep, or a blade snapped in the door? We gain non-destructive entry to any Jeep — no drilling, no broken glass, no damage to the car.
Lost All Your Jeep Keys?
Every Jeep key lost or stolen? All-keys-lost on a Jeep usually needs the security PIN read and the key coded to the FCA/Stellantis immobiliser — high-skill work. We come to you and code a fresh key without a dealer recovery.
Jeep Key Programming
Bladed remotes, older FOBIK fobs and full proximity smart keys — we cut SIP22 blades and code Jeep keys to your immobiliser using dealer-level software, PIN and all.
Spare Jeep Keys
A programmed spare is far cheaper than an all-keys-lost. We supply and code a spare Jeep key at your home or work while you still hold a working one.
Regain Entry Into Your Jeep
Lost, damaged or had a Jeep key stolen? A modern Jeep is not a cut-and-copy job — the key is electronically married to the car through the FCA/Stellantis immobiliser, usually behind a security PIN, so the wrong help can cost you days and money before you even learn how the job really has to be done.
We cover the range: the Fiat-platform Renegade and Compass compact SUVs, the off-road Wrangler, the large Grand Cherokee, and the new electric Avenger — from older bladed remotes and FOBIK fobs to the latest proximity smart keys.
Take a Jeep to a main dealer and you are usually looking at recovering the car (it is immobilised without a coded key), an appointment days away, and a bill stacking the key, the coding and the transport. But a general locksmith is often no better: what the job actually involves depends on the model, the immobiliser and whether a security PIN is needed. A spare cut while you still hold a working key is straightforward; an all-keys-lost means reading the PIN and coding a fresh key to the car — and the newest cars add a Secure Gateway (SGW) step.
Lock City is a Jeep-literate mobile auto locksmith carrying the dealer-level software, the security PIN tooling and the right SIP22 blanks, FOBIK fobs and proximity keys. We read your registration, tell you honestly whether yours is a roadside key programming job or a genuine all-keys-lost case, and quote before we travel — no towing, no wasted visits. Every Jeep key replacement we take on is guaranteed. Call 07967 097 899, Monday to Friday, 8am–5:30pm.
Jeep Key Systems Explained
Jeep is part of Stellantis (formerly FCA), and which key and immobiliser your car uses is the single biggest factor in what a replacement costs and whether it can be done away from a dealer. Here is the honest picture:
Key & blade form
- Bladed remote: older and base Jeeps use a bladed remote key. On the Fiat-based Renegade and Compass the blade is typically the SIP22 profile [verify against your VIN].
- FOBIK fob: the older FCA “FOBIK” fob — a fob that slots into the dash to start — appears on some Jeeps of that era.
- Proximity smart key: modern Jeeps use a full proximity smart key with keyless start; a mechanical emergency blade hides inside the fob for when the battery dies.
Renegade & Compass (Fiat platform)
- Share the Fiat 500X small-wide platform, with SIP22-profile blades and, higher up the range, proximity keys [verify against your VIN].
- Many are roadside-programmable with the right security PIN read via locksmith tooling.
Wrangler & Grand Cherokee (FCA fobs)
- Use FCA-family fobs — bladed remotes, FOBIK or proximity depending on age and trim.
- All-keys-lost generally needs the PIN read and the key coded to the immobiliser [verify against your VIN].
Avenger (new EV / crossover)
- Jeep’s newest small car, on the Stellantis e-CMP / STLA Small platform (2023 on), with a proximity smart key.
- One of the most security-hardened Jeeps — exactly what is possible depends on the build [verify against your VIN].
The Secure Gateway (SGW)
- Post-2018 FCA/Stellantis cars carry a Secure Gateway module that affects programming and can need a secure or online step [verify against your VIN].
The honest bit: the key type, whether a PIN is needed and whether a Secure Gateway is fitted vary model by model and by build date, and only your VIN confirms it [verify against your VIN]. Many Jeep spare and all-keys-lost jobs are roadside with the right PIN and software; the newest SGW cars can need extra steps. Jeep Key Replacement — Your Questions Answered
Can you replace a Jeep key without going to a main dealer?
In most cases, yes. We cut and code Jeep keys at the roadside — bladed remotes, FOBIK fobs and proximity smart keys — reading the security PIN with dealer-level software, so there is no recovery to a dealer and no waiting days for an appointment. The exception is some of the newest Secure Gateway (SGW) cars, which can need an extra secure step; we tell you honestly which yours is before we travel. See our Jeep key programming service.
I’ve lost every key to my Jeep — is that a bigger job?
Yes. An all-keys-lost on a Jeep usually means reading the security PIN and coding a brand-new key to the FCA/Stellantis immobiliser — far more involved than adding a spare while you still hold a working key. It is high-skill work, but on many Jeeps we can still do it at the roadside without a dealer. See our lost car keys service.
How much does a replacement Jeep key cost?
It depends on the model, the key type and whether it is a spare or an all-keys-lost. A bladed remote for an older car is the cheapest tier; a proximity smart key or an all-keys-lost costs more because of the part, the PIN read and the programming. We never guess a figure blind — give us your registration and we will confirm the exact price before we travel.
My Jeep key still works but the buttons or keyless entry don’t — do I need a new key?
Usually not. On most Jeeps this is a flat fob battery or worn buttons, not a failed transponder. Keyless faults are often the fob battery or an aerial rather than the key itself. We can test, replace the battery or repair the fob for a fraction of a new key. See our key programming service.
Is my keyless Jeep at risk of relay theft?
Like any keyless car, yes — Jeeps with keyless entry are a known relay-theft target. Keep the fob in a Faraday pouch, store the spare away from the front of the house, and after any theft have the car re-coded so the missing key is disabled. If a fob has been stolen, see our stolen car keys service.
