The HR-V moved to a hybrid smart-key car with its current generation, so the key and security advice depend on which one you have:
HR-V 2nd gen (2015–2021)
- Blade: HON66.
- Transponder: Philips/NXP immobiliser chip.
- Remote: an HON66 flip (switchblade) remote on entry trims; Honda Smart Keyless Access (proximity) on EX.
- All-keys-lost: programmed by OBD at the roadside.
HR-V 3rd gen (2021–present, e:HEV hybrid)
- Key: keyless smart proximity as standard with a hidden emergency blade — the current hybrid HR-V is a smart-key car throughout.
- Security: the keyless system is a relay-theft target. We recommend a Faraday pouch, keeping the spare away from the front door, and re-coding after any theft so the old fob is dead.

My Honda HR-V is keyless — can you still make a new key?
