The Cupra Born Key Services We Offer

Born Vehicle Entry

Keys locked in the Born or an emergency blade jammed in the door? We gain non-destructive entry to your electric Born — no drilling, no damage.

Lost Your Born Keys?

Lost or stolen every Born key? We code a fresh key to the MEB immobiliser at the roadside where the build allows — no recovery to a dealer.

Born Key Programming

The Born is an EV with a proximity key — we cut the emergency HU66 blade and code Born keys to your MEB system with current VAG software.

Spare Born Keys

A programmed spare is cheaper and safer than a future crisis. We supply and code spare Born keys at your home or workplace.

Regain Entry Into Your Cupra Born

Lost your Cupra Born key, or had a keyless fob stolen? The Born is Cupra’s all-electric hatch — the brand’s EV, built on a different platform to the petrol cars — and being locked out or immobilised is more than an inconvenience when it is your daily driver.

A main dealer will want the Born recovered, an appointment you may wait days for, and a bill stacking the key, the coding and the transport. A general locksmith cannot programme it — and on the keyless Born there is an extra sting: keyless EVs are a known relay-theft target, so a lost or stolen fob is a security problem, not just an access one.

Lock City fixes both. As a Cupra-literate mobile locksmith we carry current VAG software and the correct blanks to code a new Born key at the roadside where the build allows. Because the Born rides on VW Group’s MEB platform (the ID.3’s architecture), its proximity key can differ slightly from the MQB cars, and the newest EVs can be more restricted — so we confirm from your VIN first. Cupra Born Keys: Types & What You Need

The Born is the odd one out in the Cupra range — the electric model on the MEB platform rather than the MQB petrol cars — so its key setup can differ, and the generation matters for both cost and security advice:

Cupra Born (2021–present, MEB platform)

  • Platform: VW Group’s MEB electric architecture — a sibling of the VW ID.3, so the setup can differ slightly from the MQB Cupras [verify against your VIN].
  • Blade: a mechanical emergency blade (HU66 family) hidden inside the fob for when the battery dies [verify against your VIN].
  • Keyless: a proximity/keyless key is standard on the EV, so a lost fob is a security event, not just an access one.
  • All-keys-lost: coded to the MEB immobiliser — the newest EV builds can be more restricted than the MQB cars [verify against your VIN].

Note: because the Born sits on the MEB platform rather than the MQB petrol cars, exactly what is possible depends on the build — and the very newest EVs can be dealer-restricted [verify against your VIN]. Tell us your reg and we will confirm the key type and the realistic route before anyone spends a penny. See our car key programming service.

Cupra Born FAQs

Cupra Born Key Replacement — Your Questions Answered

My Cupra Born is electric — can you still make a key?

In most cases, yes. The Born uses a proximity/keyless key on VW Group’s MEB platform, and we carry the software to code one to your car at the roadside where the build allows. Because the newest EVs can be more restricted, we confirm from your VIN first. See our car key programming service.

Is the Born’s key different from the petrol Cupras?

It can be. The Born rides on the MEB electric platform (the VW ID.3’s architecture) rather than the MQB petrol cars, so its proximity key and setup can differ slightly [verify against your VIN]. Tell us your reg and we will confirm exactly what your Born needs.

My keyless Born fob was stolen — is the car at risk?

Potentially, yes — a stolen proximity fob can start the car, and keyless EVs are a relay-theft target. We can code a new fob and de-register the stolen one so it no longer unlocks or starts the Born. See our stolen car keys service.

I’ve lost all the keys to my Born — can you help?

Often, yes — an all-keys-lost on the Born means coding a brand-new key to the MEB immobiliser. On the very newest EVs this can be dealer-restricted, so we check your VIN honestly and tell you before we travel. See our lost car keys service.

How much does a Cupra Born key cost to replace?

It depends on whether it is a spare or an all-keys-lost, and on the build. Send us your registration and we will confirm the exact figure before we travel — no surprises.
