Lost car keys? If you have lost your car keys in Bristol, Bath or surroundings, and don’t have a spare, you are not alone, we get calls everyday from stressed motorists that have lost their only key.
We recommend you call us now and let us know:
We offer a fast roadside solution for most makes and models with the aim of getting you back on the road again!
In short, manufacturers design their cars to make them hard to steal.
With this in mind they have developed key systems that are so complicated that even an experienced car thief has trouble getting in and starting the vehicle.
That’s great good news for motorists …. until they find themselves in a situation where all their keys are lost.
Why is this? Getting a new set isn’t just a case of going to your local key cutter – and not all locksmiths can make transponder keys.
You need an experienced Auto Locksmith that has invested in the latest key-coding technology to replace modern transponder keys.
Transponder keys have to be programmed properly or they will not work.
Lock City have the experience and technology to help you!
You may be considering a vehicle door lock change if you’ve had your car or van keys stolen, or if you have lost them.
This can be costly but maybe the best route depending on the circumstances of the lost/stolen key.
If you are planning to claim back our invoice for your lost car key through your insurance company, please call them first to check your policy details – some insurance companies only allow a full lockset change!
Depending on the circumstances, you do not necessarily have to change the locks. We can cut and programme replacement keys, which in most cases deactivates or deletes the lost/stolen keys from the system.
This means that if someone did try and gain access to your vehicle using your old key, they will not be able to start the vehicle, so will not be able to drive it away.
They can however, possibly gain access with the old manual key, so you need to consider if your belongings in your vehicle are at risk.
This option is generally used for where the car was not at your home address or workplace at the time of the keys going missing (so if they fell into the wrong hands, they would have no ideal how to locate the vehicle).

For some vehicle’s, we will need the ‘security code’ & ‘key number’ of the vehicle.
This is normally supplied with the vehicle (on a credit card sized document) but if you don’t have this, we can supply it (most makes & models) please ask for a price (starting at £30 plus VAT).
This saves you the inconvenience of taking all your log book information to the main dealer.
For some vehicles, we will also need the Chassis/Vin Number (on your V5 log book, MOT certificate or on the bottom of the windscreen).
